Photography class for kids, teens

Photography for Kids
May 8 (9 a.m.–12 nn)


This specially designed photography workshop teaches young minds the basics of photography through a classroom lecture, a supervised photo shoot, and a photo clinic. As a venue for self-expression, the workshop will help develop kids’ skills in photography. Topics include:
- What is photography? Definition and history
- Exposure, as related to the importance of light in photography
- Composing and designing photographs for visual impact
- Basic camera parts (and how to maximize each)
- Different shooting applications

Requirements
- Any digital camera
- Must be 7–12 years old

Speaker
Dennis Balangue has been a semi-professional photographer for the past six years. He has photographed numerous celebrities and some of Europe's celebrated scenes. He is also servicing some of Studio 23's photography needs. He has mounted an exhibit with fellow photographer Joel Bondoc at The Alcove photo gallery.

Joining fee and discount
P1,500 inclusive of handouts, snacks, and certificate. Cash or check payment may be made at the library or through a bank deposit.

Due to the limited number of available slots, interested participants are requested to register on or before April 30 by placing a partial payment of at least P750 (nonrefundable; full payment is due on the first day of class). A 5 percent discount will be extended to those who pay in full on or before the deadline.

Photography for Teens
May 8 (9 a.m.–5 p.m.)

This workshop is designed for young digital-camera users who want to learn the basics of photography, covering both the aesthetic and technical aspects. The workshop—which features a lecture, actual photo shoots, working in a digital darkroom (demo only), and a photo clinic—discusses topics such as:
- Understanding light for photography
- Maximizing the use of the digital camera
- Composing and designing a photograph for visual impact
- Seeing with a photographic eye
- PLUS: Tips on shooting people, architecture, product, still life, low-light, and other applications

Requirements
- Any digital camera
- Must be at least 13 years old

Speaker
Jay Alonzo has taken advantage of modern technology for his craft from the time he got his first digital camera, a Nikon Coolpix 995, in 2001. Now an Olympus camera user (E510, E3, and EPL), he has taken photographs published in magazines such as High Life and Mabuhay (Philippine Airline's in-flight magazine).
