Summer Workshops at Lopez Museum


Lopez Museum hosts a series of workshops to keep those hands and minds busy this summer.


Learn how to transform supple, non-rigid materials such as cloth, foam and rubber into sculptures. Alma Quinto will conduct a three-day Soft Sculpture Workshop for children ages 10-above on April 13 to 15, from 9am to 12noon. Workshop fee is Php 2,500.

Kids can also choose to hone their writing skills in the Creative Writing Workshop facilitated by Ms. Carla Pacis, an award-winning children's book writer, on April 19-23, 10am-12noon. Workshop fee of Php4,500.00.

Learn the old and contemporary techniques of classical and Japanese binding in the two-day Bookbinding East to West workshop with Loreto Apilado of the Cottage Industry Technology Center. Explore the unique binding designs of these two traditions. The participants will make two blank books from plain sheets and have the opportunity to make their own simple bookbinding equipment. Workshop dates are April 17 from 9am to 5pm (with lunch break) and April 24 from 9am to 12noon. Workshop fee is P4,000.

And on May 22 and 29 from 1 to 5pm, March San Valentin will conduct a Pinhole Photography Workshop where he will discuss the history of the camera and lensless photography. The participants will have a chance to design and produce their own pinhole cameras as part of the creative process. Workshop fee is Php 3,000.

The Lopez Memorial Museum and Library is at the ground floor, Benpres Building, Exchange Road corner Meralco Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. Museum days and hours are Mondays-Saturdays, 8am-5pm, except holidays. For more information, call Fanny at 631-2417.
