The Manu Codjia Trio concert

ImageThe Alliance Française de Manille and The French Embassy to the Philippines together with the Philippine International Jazz and Art Festival and the Ayala Museum are delighted to present the French jazzman Manu Codjia and his musicians for a free admission concert at the Ayala Museum on Monday, December 6 at 7pm. The trio will be touring in Southeast Asia in December for the release of their new LP “Manu Codjia Trio Cover”. Manu Codjia, genius and guitar virtuoso, has accumulated honors, awards and prizes, and has played with the most prestigious jazz musicians: Michel Portal, Pat Metheny, Miroslav Vitous, Daniel Humair, Henri Texier, Eric Truffaz, etc…

Every single one applauded his remarkable ability to adapt to diverse musical worlds and his tendency to grab every opportunity to “fill in the gaps” between musical styles. He takes advantage of what jazz is and of its continuous openness to what he calls “inevitable fusions”. For his third album with Bee Jazz “Covers,” we once again find the strength of a trio formed 5 years ago, one who has already accumulated scenic experiences having distilled good music in quite a number of countries and in the French jazz scene. The album was released last October. The track selection is audacious and decidedly pop with covers from some of the best pop song writers of the 20thhe simplicity of its titles gives way to the sound of a trio both solid and powerful. Manu Codjia is definitely one of the most prominent and outstanding Jazz artists in France nowadays. Being part of the crème de la crème jazz scene in France, he is a generous musician, an extraordinary soloist, a sideman capable of amazing adaptability skills with an impressive talent in blending various musical influences with a set of impressionistic soundscapes. The Manu Codjia Trio is composed of Manu Codjia (guitar), Jérôme Regard (double bass) and Philippe Garcia (drums) Century such as Serge Gainsbourg, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits or Mickael Jackson.
